JAY’S GOT FLAVOR
Jay Stevenson Jr. is the 10 year old owner of Jay’s Got Flavor,
preparing to move into his 6
th
grade year at Prince William
County schools. Jay’s Got Flavor was created in August of
2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic. During this time, Pastor
Bush, Jay’s Grandmother was medically advised to reduce her
sugar intake, which didn’t leave her many cake choices, Jay
wanted to create a cake his Grandmother could eat and
everyone else as well.
Jay created his first speciality Chocolate Chip Pound Cake.
Samples were given out to friends, family and neighbors for
feedback and everyone agreed the cake was moist and
delicious. Jay and mom, Yade created a Facebook page but
had no name for it. After having a contest of people submitting
their choice for a business name, Jay’s Got Flavor was created,
now with over 17,000 followers from around the world!
One of Jay’s first customers was a foodie blogger named Paul Tomaselli who bought and
tasted one of Jays cakes and gave him the nickname “#DMVPoundCakeKing”. At the age of
7 years old, Jay became the owner of his own business and he also
founded an outreach called “Operation Appalachian
Mountain Outreach” donating 89 truckloads to families in
need, earning a ‘Congratulatory Letter’ from Senator
Mark Warner for his efforts and outreach in the
community.
In 2021, at age 8, Jay was featured in his first magazine
article and has his first recipe published. In 2022, Jay
was contacted by producers of Food Network Kids
Baking Championship. Jay tried out and did his best,
becoming a great lesson learned when he made it to the final round in the audition but was
beat out for the tv spot by one other contestant. The TV producers shared that Jay was the
youngest contestant to ever be asked to try our for the TV show.
Jay has made many accomplishments in the last 3 years from age 7-10 such as being
interviewed on his first podcast at 7 years old, receiving the
Humanitarian Award at age 8 and in 2023, at 10 years of
age, Jay made Prince William County Public Schools
Proximity Virtual School history by leading the first in
history “Black History Cooking Live Virtual Cooking
Class” with students and families. Jay loves baking,
dancing and singing. Jay is continously maintaining
honor roll at school and running a successul business.
Currently, Jay has created over 78 flavors of pound
cakes on his menu!

WHISTLER MEADOW FARM
Whistler Meadow Farm is nature restoration project in
the Shenandoah Valley. The property was previously run by
Sieren’s parents, who had a small vineyard on the site.
Sieren and her partner Steve purchased the property in
2021, with the goals of restoring the nature and soil health
on the landscape and growing their ow n
food. The conservation project on the
property has involved converting acres of
lawn and pasture back to native meadow,
enhancing biodiversity, supporting
pollinators, and improving the health of
the soil. Native meadows require fewer resources such as water and
fertilizers and provide critical habitat for a wide range of wildlife.
At Whistler Meadow we grow a diverse mix of annual and
perennial fruits and vegetables without pesticides, fertilizers, or
plastic. Our intercropped systems help to build soil health and reduce
pest outbreaks, which reduces water requirements and eliminates the need for chemical
interventions. While most of our food production goes to family, friends, neighbors, we
sell some surplus small markets, and enjoy the connection that comes along with
participating in the local economy.
